CEA: 81 Percent Use Social Media For CE Purchases
More than four fifths of consumer electronics shoppers use online social networks to seek information about their purchase decisions, according to a study released this week by the Consumer Electronics Association.
The study, "How Social Media Influences Purchase Decisions of Consumer Electronics and Accessories," around a quarter of respondents always or nearly always refer to social media when buying a CE product, a number that jumps to 65 percent among “high-engagement” social users.
“CE manufacturers and retailers have an opportunity to reach interested consumers directly by growing their presence on social media sites,” Chris Ely, manager of industry relations for CEA, said as part of the announcements. “When it comes to consumer electronics purchases, most high-engagement users are likely to follow or "friend" a company due to special promotions, contests, entertainment or exclusive content.”
