CEA Again Calls For XM/Sirius Passage
The Consumer Electronics Association has once again asked the Federal Communications Commission to approve the pending merger between XM and Sirius Satellite Radio.
CEA President/CEO Gary Shapiro, the group said, wrote a letter this week to FCC chairman Kevin Martin, asking the FCC to “move quickly” on the merger. Shapiro added that a quick decision on the merger would “provide confidence to consumers and clarity in the marketplace.”
More than a year after it was announced, the merger was cleared in March by the Department of Justice’s antitrust division, leaving FCC passage as its last remaining hurdle.
