CEA Comments on Government DTV Report
The Consumer Electronics Association on Tuesday praised a report issued by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the digital television transition, which is scheduled for February 2009. In the report, the GAO stated that the FCC and NTIA are working to prepare Americans for the transition, but that additional planning is needed.
The DTV transition is on schedule and is working,” CEA spokesman Jason Oxman said. “Successfully transitioning the nation to digital television requires the government and private sector to work cooperatively to educate consumers, and we are encouraged by GAO’s finding.”
The GAO’s report was based on data collecting through August of this year.
