In response to a Notice of Inquiry from the FCC regarding competition for video service delivery, the Consumer Electronics Association recently filed comments about its efforts to educate consumers about the upcoming transition from analog to digital broadcasting. Among these initiatives are postings on the Web site myCEknowhow.com, which includes interactive digital television buying guides that tell consumers what to expect from the analog cutoff and discuss digital options for analog sets. Other campaigns include a voluntary analog set labeling program, press releases, a tip sheet for retailers and an HD satellite media tour. Says CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro, “CEA is actively engaged with broadcasters, cable operators, public interest groups and other stakeholders to build coalitions for communications related to the DTV transition.”
