CEA Inducts Digital Patriots
Closing this CEA's HDTV Summit in Washington D.C. was the 1st Annual Digital Patriots Dinner. The dinner and award, according to CEA, is designed to recognize government leaders for their dedication to supporting the growth and innovation of consumer technology.
The honorees this year include Senator George Allen (R-VA), a founding member of the Senate High Tech Task Force. According to CEA, Allen has led the fight to keep the internet tax free and has fought overzealous intellectual property litigation. He is a member of the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committees, the Foreign Relations Committee and the Small Business Committee.
Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) was also inducted as a digital patriot. Issa is the founder of Directed Electronics, a consumer auto security systems business. He has also served as chairmen of CEA. He is also credited with crafting the effort to unseat former California Governor Gray Davis. Issa was inducted into Dealerscope's Hall of Fame in 1999.
