CEA Launches Tech Enthusiast Membership
NEW YORK- The Consumer Electronics Association Tuesday officially announced the launch of its long-talked-about new CEA Tech Enthusiast Membership. The membership, aimed at early adopters and other gadget fans, will give members access to discounts, beta testing opportunities and inside information, CEA president/CEO Gary Shapiro announced at the CES Press Preview in New York.
The membership will cost $49 annually, with a special introductory rate of $29. In addition, the first 1,000 members to sign up will be invited to a special event at CES on Jan. 9. A Facebook video contest to find the Ultimate Tech Enthusiast will also award the winner with a CES trip.
GDGT, a site established by Gizmodo and Engadget founding editor Peter Rojas, has been named the official social network of CEA Tech Enthusiast membership.
