CEA Launches Charity Effort
The Consumer Electronics Association on Monday announced a new initiative aimed at making it easier for member companies to donate electronics to charity. The effort will be undertaken with the help of the charity Gifts in Kind International, which will help distribute the materials through its network of community charities.
Gifts in Kind will also appear at both the CEA’s Industry Forum in October and International CES in January, to coordinate the donation of materials from the trade shows. The CEA’s 2,100 member companies will be encouraged to participate in the donation efforts.
“We are proud to be able to link the considerable resources of the consumer electronics industry with communities and people in need,” CEA president and CEO Gary Shapiro said in a statement.
