CEA, NAB Team Up on Antenna Site
The Consumer Electronics Association and the National Association of Broadcasters announced Tuesday that they have joined forces in order to educate consumers about how to receive digital signals with the use of an outdoor antenna. The alliance, which begins with the re-launch of the Web site www.AntennaWeb.org, is part of the CEA and NAB’s DTV transition assistance efforts.
AntennaWeb.org had previously existed, but with the CEA/NAB alliance, “infrastructure and site capacity upgrades” have been implemented, with a redesign part of the change as well.
“Cable or satellite subscriptions are not required for consumers to enjoy the benefits of digital television,” NAB President David Rehr said in a joint statement. “With the proper antenna, consumers can receive free, over-the-air digital broadcasts with higher picture and sound quality and access to multiple channels of free programming. Broadcast viewers can also access interactive video and data services that are not possible with traditional analog technology, including enhanced closed-captioning.”
