CEA Praises Congressman For Trade Vote
The Consumer Electronics Association on Wednesday praised a member of Congress after he called for a vote on pending free trade agreements with Colombia and Korea. The CEA recognized Rep. Adam Smith, a Democrat from Washington, who moved for the vote earlier this week.
“We are thankful for policymakers like Rep. Smith, who realize that the best way to stimulate our economy is to open new markets for American goods,” the CEA’s senior vice president of government affairs, Michael Petricone, said in a statement. “We also agree with Rep. Smith that the U.S. is jeopardizing its international credibility by negotiating agreements and then refusing to vote on them. International engagement has always been the key to America’s international leadership.”
Last week, the CEA participated in a White House ceremony to mark “Trade Day,” and to push for approval of pending free trade agreements.
