The Consumer Electronics Association said this week that it will form the Driver Device Interface Working Group, mean to develop standards and best practices "for designing consumer electronics products to help maximize driver safety while using consumer technologies in the car."
The group was formed by CEA’s Portable Handheld and In-Vehicle Electronics Committee.
“We believe that safety is paramount in a moving vehicle. A driver's highest priority should be safe driving and control of the vehicle at all times,” Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA, said as part of the announcement.
