CEA Touts Democrats’ Free Trade Support
As the Consumer Electronics Association prepared to wheel its “America Wins WIth Trade” tour bus to Denver for the Democratic National Convention, CEA released parts of a survey showing that most Democrats that they asked believe that they benefit from free trade, and are happy that it has reduced the costs of consumer electronics.
“This survey shows that rank-and-file Democrats understand the importance of trade and free markets to our economic future,” CEA’s president and CEO, Gary Shapiro, said as part of the release. He went on to urge Congress to pass the free trade agreement with Columbia when it goes back in session later this year.
The survey found that 67 percent of those calling themselves Democrats “support overseas trade of technology and electronics devices,” while 69 percent called it “very good” or “somewhat good” that overseas trade had reduced the price of electronics.
