CEA's Gary Shapiro Celebrates a Milestone
Twenty Years and Still Growing

"I think I have the best job in the world," said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). That's a good thing, because he's been at it since 1982. Yes, 20 years ago, then senior vice president of the CE group in the Electronic Industries Association) EIA, Jack Wayman hired Shapiro as the association's government and legal advisor. In that 20 years Shapiro's work on behalf of the consumer electronics industry has had enormous effect. He was appointed president of the CEA in 1995.
