Here at CEATEC, the top consumer electronics trade show in Japan, Japanese manufacturers (and only Japanese—no Samsung, LG or Philips here) showed off their newest products for both the domestic and US markets.
Bigger and better displays were obvious everywhere, but the bigger news, at least in this editor’s opinion, was in the high definition camcorders.
JVC takes the cake for the company’s latest Evario hard disc drive camcorder. The new Evario records high definition in 1920 x 1080 (that’s 1080p in English) resolution with 3 CCDs. The hard drive capacity on this camera was not available, but I did learn that in addition to a USB output for connection to a PC, the Evario HD includes both 1394 and HDMI output.
