CEDIA Chairman on Organization Goals: Education, Outreach
Some salient second-survey findings, released in the middle of Expo, showed that 72 percent of electronic systems contractors who responded claimed increased revenue from FY2006 to FY2007. Companies reporting profit margins in the one-to-14-percent range, the survey also showed, tended to have the highest average revenue and the most CEDIA-certified employees.
Top revenue sources were distributed audio and video, home theater and media room installations, but companies with higher annual revenues said they also saw large increases in consumer demand for systems integration and lighting control.
Some other findings: 60 percent of respondents have some sort of showroom, including almost nine in 10 respondents with $2 million or more in revenue. And, corroborating the outreach success of CEDIA thus far, those respondents with the highest revenues and largest project sizes say they are focusing more on marketing to and generating more business from the architect community.
