Spira Gets CEDIA Lifetime Award
CEDIA announced Thursday, ahead of CEDIA Expo, that Joel Spira of Lutron will receive this year's Lifetime Achievement Award. Spira will be honored at the Electronic Lifestyles Awards Banquet at the event in Atlanta.
Spira, who in 1959 invented the world's first dimming device, this year donated materials from Lutron’s history to the Smithsonian’s Electricity Collection.
“Joel Spira’s contributions to the industry distinguish him as an early leader in bringing lifestyle-enhancing technology into the home,” CEDIA CEO Utz Baldwin said as part of the announcement. “CEDIA is proud to honor Mr. Spira with its 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his many years of outstanding innovation.”
