CEO Joly Starts at Best Buy Next Month
Best Buy Monday officially announced the hiring of Hubert Joly as its new president and CEO. The news had been reported late Sunday by the Wall Street Journal.
Joly is expected to take over as CEO in early September, once the French executive has secured a visa. Interim CEO G. Mike Mikan will remain in place until Joly starts, and will remain on the company's board.
“I am honored and excited to lead Best Buy," Joly said in a statement. "Best Buy has extraordinary assets -- including its 167,000 employees, its huge customer base, its distribution and service capabilities, its well-recognized brands, and its history of innovation.
