LAS VEGAS- The sounds of specificity filled the corridors of CES suites throughout the Venetian and the Las Vegas Hilton, as speaker makers proffered both statement pieces meant to wow audio high-rollers and models that helped fill in the blanks in certain lines at certain price-points.
- Definitive Technology’s Mythos line benefited by the addition of the STS Super Tower ($2,999 per pair; February availability), a lower-priced addition to the Mythos carrying a built-in SuperCube powered sub. The company also made its inaugural entry into the single-box multi-channel speaker category, with 50-inch flat-panel-tailored Mythos Solo Surround Sound Array SSA-50 five-channel speaker bar ($1,099; February).
- Sunfire can now boast the completion of its Cinema Ribbon speaker family with the debut of the CMR-2BIP, an on-wall bipolar speaker that is just 3-5/8 inches deep, making it one of the shallowest of on-wall surrounds ($1,750 per pair; April availability).
