CES PC News - PC Networking Options Flourish
A major step in making wireless networking more widely and easily available was the announcement by the HomeRF Working Group of the ratification of its Shared Wireless Access Protocol (SWAP) version 1.0. So far, 13 companies including Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Motorola, Proxim and Samsung have committed to develop products based on SWAP.
SWAP's goal is to allow developers to design a variety of products that wirelessly connect without restricting consumers to one brand or product line.
Networking options will likely expand as multiuser households become more mainstream.
