• KEF displayed a broad range of speaker system options, ranging from the KHT1005.2 ($800; February) to the stratospherically priced Muon—a KEF concept speaker with a $140,000-per-pair price tag that buys impressive-sounding tower speakers and two aluminum hourglass-shaped sculptures.
• THIEL Audio took the wraps off a wireless multi-zone concept system it expects to introduce and price at a later date. Developed in partnership with BICOM, the THIELnet 5.1-channel wireless system is designed to be installed in less than an hour. No tools are required and the system is easily upgradable, said Ekin Binal, BICOM vice president of product development. It includes THIEL’s SCS4 bookshelf speaker tweaked for IP addressability.
• LG announced an alliance with famed audio product designer Mark Levinson, which produced its first fruits in the form of two audio systems. The AP3133’s centerpiece is LG’s dual-format Super Blu player, which has a front, surround, center and subwoofer speaker complement; a 7.1-channel A/V receiver; and HMDI switching, near-1080p upscaling and 1080p pass-through.
