Following a weak holiday season and amid recession fears, chain store sales actually rose slightly for the first full week in January, BAB90D791&002;DF285&002;D433B&002;D815A&002;DEFBB80E72B6D
D”>MarketWatch.com reported Tuesday, citing figures from the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and UBS Securities.
According to the figures, sales at chain stores rose 1.1 percent for the week ended Jan. 12 over the same period the year before, although on a week-over-week basis sales actually dropped .9 percent. Same-store sales are expected to rise 1 to 1.5 percent for the month of January, according to ICSC’s figures.
