Tablets Reduce Netbook Demand
A consumer survey by ChangeWave found that demand for netbooks has dropped in recent months, a development the research firm attributes to the rising popularity of the iPad and other coming tablet computers.
The survey found that 14 percent of those asked this month who plan to buy a laptop in the next 90 days plan to buy a netbook. That number was 13 percent last month, but had reached into the 20s during the summer and fall months in 2009.
In addition to the popularity of the iPad, the end of the recession was cited as a factor.
