Huge Demand Seen For Next iPhone
Consumer demand for the next iPhone is higher than it was for the previous iPhone last year, while Samsung's Galaxy line has emerged as the Apple device's top competitor in the high-end smartphone space. That's according to survey numbers released Monday by ChangeWave Research.
According to ChangeWave, a total of 31 percent of customers asked last month said they're either "very likely" or "somewhat likely" to purchase an "iPhone 5" when it becomes available. That's compared to a total of 21.5 percent who answered in one of those two categories, about the iPhone 4S, last October.
Meanwhile, 19 percent of respondents who said they're interested in buying a smartphone in the next 90 days said they would get a Samsung model, an all-time high for the brand, and putting it well ahead of such Android manufacturers as Motorola and HTC. However, just two percent said they were "very likely" to get a Galaxy SIII and 7 percent said they were "somewhat likely."
