Some of your more informed consumers may have heard about Blu-ray profiles, but not know exactly what that means and how understanding profiles should impact their buying decisions. Here’s a primer that can help you answer their questions:
What are format profiles?
Profiles on Blu-ray players refer to a standard set of specifications required to make the product compatible with certain Blu-ray disc features. The higher the profile level, the more advanced playback features that product has. A player built to Profile 1.1 will not play the Profile 2.0 features on a Blu-ray disc, but it will play the movie and standard extra features.
