Circuit City Names New COO, Announces Shakeup
In a management shakeup, Circuit City announced Wednesday that it has hired John T. Harlow as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Described by the company as a “senior retail operator and turnaround executive,” Harlow will attempt to reverse the chain’s decline.
Most recently a retail director with Deloitte Consulting, Harlow was previously a corporate vice president with Toys “R” Us, as well as stints with the A&P division of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Andersen Worldwide and Genovese Drug Stores. Harlow will report to CEO Philip Schoonover, who said in the company’s statement that the new executive’s priorities will include “retail execution, profitable sales improvement, improving the customer experience, and implementing new systems for long-term sustainable earnings growth.”
The company also announced that executive vice president of multi-channel sales George D. “Danny” Clark has left the company. Brian S. Bradley, now senior vice president for multi-channel, will report directly to the CEO and supervise Web site and call center operations.
