Circuit City Pushes Tax Holiday in Eight States
With several states offering special tax holidays early next month, Circuit City is stepping up and offering special savings to customers in those states.
In Missouri, for instance, Circuit City stores will sell computers and accessories valued at $3,500 and less tax free during the tax holiday, which is set for Aug. 1 - 3. During that time, certain back-to-school items are exempt from state sales and local sales tax (a local jurisdiction can choose not to participate by enacting an ordinance).
Circuit City stores in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia will also participate in the holiday. The retail chain has also invited local news organizations to cover the tax-free shopping.
