Brand Source Summit: Indie Dealers Benefit From Demise of Circuit City/Tweeter
Circuit City and Tweeter – with their huge marketing budgets, buying power, pricing actions, etc… – were the bane of many independent dealers. Their absence is now a blessing.
Kerry Schanz, owner of WeeBee Audio and Video in Lacaster, Pa., is just one HES member out of many at this week’s BrandSource Summit in Dallas who has seen a solid bump in product and service sales since the two business have shut down.
Retail sales at WeeBee AV, which was sandwiched between a Circuit and Tweeter, were up 40 percent in January and 51 percent in February, with overall product margin increasing six percent. Home installation services are also up, as is 12-volt product and installation sales.
