Circuit City Welcomes Back Some Ex-Employees
About eight months after letting go of thousands of sales associates, Circuit City has begun inviting back many of them, as it opens new stores nationwide. The Wall Street Journal reported that Circuit City has begun sending letters to its former workers asking them to apply for positions either at new stores, or created by natural attrition.
The move is part of a drive to redefine the responsibilities of the chain’s employees. Most of the new jobs, according to the Journal, are either with the “product specialists”- who are essentially sales associates- and the “product flow team,” who set up displays and take deliveries.
