Circuit City Closing Will Affect 1,900 Corporate Jobs
Circuit City's demise will lead to the loss of over 1,900 jobs of employees who work directly for the company, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Friday, citing papers filed with the state government.
That figure does not include employees at individual stores, only those who report to corporate headquarters. These include between 1,500 and 1,600 in the Richmond, Va area, which includes about 1,200 at the headquarters itself. Employees will be paid through March 21; the stores are scheduled to close March 31.
