Life After Death For CircuitCity.com?
Circuit City's Web site currently states that it is "temporarily closed," but that "we anticipate the website will reopen in the coming weeks." As pointed out by CrunchGear.com, the message appeared on the site this week, after the Web site closed along with the retail chain in March.
During the chain's bankruptcy process, the idea was floated of the Circuit City name and/or Web site being sold to become a new business. Liquidator Hilco Trading LLC is known for having submitted a bid to do so, but it is unknown if they ultimately won it.
A similar scenario took place when CompUSA closed in 2007, and its name was purchased by Systemax, which relaunched the brand both online and in a handful of retail stores.
