CloudX Debuts Mobile Device Distribution Platform
CloudX, which globally launched its online marketplace platform in mid-January (www.tradecloudx.com), was founded by Mohsen Khalkhali, its CEO, as what he said is a “reinvention” of the distribution model for the mobile device industry.
Khalkhali, whose background includes physics, finance, and time as the director of global sales for Microtel UK, a mobile devices marketing, distribution and inventory management company, said the best way to understand CloudX’s value is to understand how much time is normally expended in executing a simple multi-unit mobile device transaction today.
“Say you’re a distributor and want to sell 100 units of a 10-inch tablet. You have a list of five preferred customers and then 20 others. You tell your salespeople to start calling with a price and give them some negotiation room. To close even one transaction, it might take 10 or 15 calls and if the prices don’t work, the salesperson has to ask the manager to get approval. It could easily take a half day, even before a trade is agreed,” he said. Then, once it is agreed, it needs to go through logistics and finance stages. “The process is very complicated and laborious.”
