Coby Recalls Batteries
Coby Electronics and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have issued a voluntary recall of rechargeable batteries sold by the company up until last month. The batteries were meant to work with DVD/CD/MP3 players (product number TF-DVD- 8501.) sold by the company.
The affected batteries have serial numbers beginning with "HY," and were sold between January 2007 and September of this year.
About 19,600 of the products were sold. The company received about ten reports of the batteries overheating, although none of them led to injuries. Those with the batteries are advised to call Coby at (877) 305-2629 and ask for a replacement battery.
