Comcast Rolls Out Security Camera Updates to Help Catch “The Grinch” This Holiday
Results of a survey commissioned by Comcast were released this week, and they showed that consumers nearly one in four people report being a victim of package theft and nearly half of those surveyed said they know someone who has had a package stolen right from their doorstep. Those figures are even higher among millennials, according to the survey, which was conducted by Wakefield Research for Comcast.
Last year, UPS delivered more than 750 million packages during the time between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve. So, figuring in Comcast’s survey results, that would mean that nearly 190 million of those packages could have been targets of package theft. And this year, most analysts and other survey data show that the amount of online shopping during the holidays is only going to go up.
Armed with that kind of information, Comcast also announced a whole host of new features for security cameras on the Xfinity Home platform, aimed at improving the functionality and ease-of-use. Some of the new features include the ability to filter motion-triggered activity by people or vehicles.
