CompUSA Continues Comeback
CompUSA’s rise from the ashes continued late last week, as three stores bearing that name opened around Texas Friday, the Dallas Morning News reported.
The new chains are in Plano, El Paso and McAllen, Tex., three of the 16 stores that will reopen under that name in Texas as well as Florida, Puerto Rico, Illinois and North Carolina.
The former CompUSA chain folded in December when owner Carlos Slim decided to liquidate. However, Systemex, owner of TigerDirect, bought the name as well as the company’s Web site and e-commerce business.
