CompUSA To Lay Off 600 When Corporate Office Closes
The CompUSA retail era officially began passing into history at year’s end, and the company said this week that its corporate office will close in March, leading to the layoffs of over 600 workers.
According to a letter to the Texas Workforce Commission that was obtained by the Dallas Morning News, the layoffs will begin Feb. 8, and conclude March 14. With the last stores scheduled to close in the early months of 2008, CompUSA is holding going-out-of-business sales at its 106 stores.
The company announced in early December that it was going out of business, after owner Carlos Slim made the decision to liquidate the business.
