ComScore: Android Takes Market Share Lead
Google's Android operating system has overtaken Research in Motion's BlackBerry to become the top platform for smartphone subscribers in the U.S., ComScore said in numbers taken in May and released Friday.
Google now has 34.7 percent of the U.S. smartphone market, followed by RIM with 27.1 percent and Apple with 25.5 percent. The fourth and fifth place platforms, Microsoft and Palm, are both below 8 percent.
On the manufacturer side for overall mobile OEMs, Samsung, LG and Motorola maintained the top three spots, with percentages changing only slightly from the last survey in December.
