Congress Approves Spectrum Auction
Congress over the weekend passed a bill that will create a new FCC-supervised spectrum auction of public airwaves. According to a CNET account, the auctions were included in the bill that extended the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits.
In a statement, the Consumer Electronics Association applauded the move.
“CEA has long advocated for the passage of legislation that authorizes the FCC to hold voluntary incentive spectrum auctions,” Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA, said in a statement.
