CEA: Consumer Confidence Continues Drop
Consumer confidence both in the overall economy and in the electronics sector dropped in January, according to the latest release of the CEA/CNET Index.
The groups announced that the Index of Consumer Technology Expectations dropped to 77.3, a drop of 1 point from last month and a 2 percent decline from the same period last year. On the overall Index of Consumer Expectations, the number fell to 166.6, dropping 1.3 points from last month and 4.2 from last year.
“Consumer confidence continues to decline despite the enthusiasm around the recent shift in administration,” CNET’s Director of Research, Claudia Haase, said as part of the release. “It is clear that consumers continue to worry about job losses, a volatile stock market, and a deepening recession.”
