Our next challenge is to make that content available to more people. Thomson and Hitachi sets will enable our HDTV broadcasts to be seen. Our challenge is to expand that to other manufacturers in the consumer electronics industry. It's available today. Consumer electronics manufacturers have to build our system tuner into our digital television sets. Obviously, we--DIRECTV and ourselves--are out talking to them about doing that.
4) What markets or product categories will be growth areas in 1999?
We have two tasks: one is to support the continued advocacy of our system and its leadership role in the DBS business. DIRECTV recently announced it has 4 million subscribers. Well, cable has 67 million subscribers--we haven't achieved anything near market penetration at this point. About 65 percent have some type of cable service. We fall just short of 4 percent of U.S. households . We're still in the sell-in process, the sell-in of our systems as an alternative to cable.
