Those who think radio is less than CD quality appear to be most receptive to digital radio's offer of better sound quality. Seventy percent of these consumers rate CD sound quality as the factor driving their interest in digital radio. In contrast, the segment rating radio sound quality as comparable to CD sound quality shows relatively stronger interest in data capabilities.
Overall, one in three consumers say he or she is interested in digital radio providing CD quality sound and data capabilities.
When queried about various types of information that could be transmitted to and displayed on a digital radio receiver, interest was strongest in weather reports. In general, females demonstrated more interest in information capabilities than males.
