Over the last 2 1/2 years, Matt Peters has made a number of upgrades to his home electronics showroom in Naples, FL, that have very little to do with electronics. He’s put in a $25,000 Italian leather couch set, a high-design “Barcelona chair,” and hung modern art on the walls. It’s all very monied and sleek, and Peters is convinced that the makeover is good business strategy.
“We work with an affluent clientele which is going minimalist in their approach,” says Peters. “We pay close attention to Architectural Digest and Elle Decor and magazines like that now. We’re catering to more modern design.”
Peters says his emphasis on European design especially is attracting the attention of architects and interior decorators in his market, just the people who can talk their clients into a big home theater investment.
