Contacts: Mike Nüñez, President of Precision Audio (San Juan, Puerto Rico)
When you walk through the doors of Precision Audio, a respected, 20-year-old CE retail operation in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the things you don’t see may be the most intriguing part of the showroom. You don’t see wires, speakers, giant flatpanels or really many electronics at all, certainly no boxes. Instead, you’re surrounded by what co-owner and President Mike Nüñez calls “the best design in the world,” European furniture from companies like Kor and Ekornes all arranged in a Lutron-lit glow.
“People walk in and they say, ‘Wait a minute!’” says Nüñez . “It’s not the same old thing. It’s a unique atmosphere, and it has to do with ergonomics, the colors we are using, the fabrics. What we do is apply all these elements to the service of the audio video experience.”
Nüñez says customers, especially local architects and designers who have become important for referrals, immediately feel comfortable in his showroom. His salespeople take advantage of their respect for the decor and immediately begin to demonstrate how lighting, automatic shade, distributed audio/video and many other products (all in full view on the store’s second floor) contribute to a more modern home life. “When you press a button and the shades go down and you don’t even hear the motors, people go nuts and say, ‘That’s what I want!’” he says.
