Contacts: Ron Brewster, Home Audio Buyer at Amazon.com
What young man wouldn’t jump at an opportunity to work for a company called “Car Toys”? Ron Brewster’s first position at that Seattle-based mobile electronics retailer was in their finance department, but his enthusiasm for the products soon led to an offer of an Associate Buyer position and a career in consumer electronics. Brewster spent three years working on the merchandising and marketing of several wireless carriers before making a move to Amazon.com’s Wireless buying team.
“While absorbing Amazon’s very unique and technically extensive systems as quickly as possible, I was expanding selection dramatically and was involved with helping build the Amazon’s first wireless accessory finder,” he remembers. A year later, Brewster hopped categories to run Amazon’s Home Audio services with the intent of turning the site into a premier home theater and HiFi destination.
“In the beginning it wasn’t so easy to convince audio manufacturers why they needed an online partner,” he says. “My goal was to develop relationships with key vendors, be respectful of their concerns and consistently do what I said I was going to do. As a result, we have made great progress over the last two years.”
