Trey Thofner, a second-generation retailer on the Treasure Coast of Florida, has just hired someone his customers will likely never see or chat with, but who could soon become the main reason people visit the seven different Jetson TV & Appliance Centers locations.
“We hired a full-time graphic designer,” says Thofner, who is known among colleagues in the Nationwide Marketing Group as a skilled marketer. “I had been working with the people at the paper, but I spent half my time trying to rework the ads. We wanted more than just text and price, we wanted to make our ads beautiful. So, we found this guy. He started last Monday.”
Thofner’s hire is already choosing a new color palette for Jetson print pieces, designing a new website template, refreshing the company logo, and introducing a new concept called “the power buy” to the chain’s ads. “We’re using the on-button icon as a symbol of our power buys, which are basically 2 or 3 crazy-low prices that’ll get people in the door,” says Thofner.
