Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) reported net sales of $6.39 billion for the month of March, the five weeks ended April 5.
That is a 3 percent decrease from the $6.57 billion posted in the same five-week period last year. This year's selling period included a 35 days of sales compared to 34 days in the last year's period, reflecting the timing of Easter. The company said the calendar shift positively impacted this year's total and same-store sales by about 1 percent to 2 percent.
For the first 31 weeks of its reporting period ended April 5, Costco reported net sales of $41.47 billion, compared to $41.34 billion during the similar 31-week period last year.
