Amazon Could Go Brick-and-Mortar
Could the nation's most successful online retailer be coming to a mall near you?
That's the implication of a report this week by the Web site Techflash.com, which discovered that the Seattle-based retailer has been granted a patent for what looks like a storefront. The patent was originally filed in 2007.
Amazon had earlier experimented, in the Seattle area, with storefront locations for its Amazon Fresh grocery delivery service. The new patent, however, does not mean the company has gone ahead with official plans for such stores.
