Sharp also started shipping Zaurus SL-5600, the most recent addition to its PDA family.
The Zaurus SL-5600 is a wireless handheld with extended battery and protected memory, designed for mobile users. With more attention being paid to convenience, the company integrated a cleverly designed QWERTY keyboard with sliding cover, creating a more comfortable typing space for more extensive data entry previously unseen in handhelds.
Wireless handsets weren't the only market that experienced convergence, however. Panasonic also introduced connected convertible tablet PCs with WAN, LAN and GPS capabilities. Its Toughbook CF-18 is a fully ruggedized notebook/pen tablet that takes into account the sometimes harsh conditions of mobile use. After a saturation of more thin-screened model notebooks, more manufacturers are also considering heavy-duty needs away from the desktop. More over, the new model computers are as adaptable as their wireless counterparts with such features as swivel-screen, convertible pen tablets and mounting pads.
