Schilling For TomTom
TomTom, the Boston-based maker of talking GPS devices, has added a hometown hero to its lineup of celebrity voices- Curt Schilling, the veteran Red Sox pitcher.
The pitcher’s voice, which will speak numerous baseball puns such as “you’re almost home, slide! slide!,” will be added to such existing celebrity options as Burt Reynolds, Mr. T, and Dennis Hopper. There are 70 other voices included in the system, most of which are based on some sort of gimmick (a cab driver, a psychoanalyst, etc.) rather than any particular person.
The famously outspoken Schilling, formerly of the Phillies and Diamondbacks, is best known for leading Boston to their first championship in 86 years in 2004, pitching in one crucial playoff game with a bloody sock following stopgap surgery.
