But both Hymes, principal of The Michaels Company, a Van Nuys, Calif.-based custom installer, and Mattingly, chairman of the Fort Collins, Colo.-based DirecTech Holding, a DirecTV home services provider/retailer, credit the stability of their business in a volatile market to the two-tier distribution model. It is one that has worked for them in the past and will help them battle present and future challenges, they said.
