Dads Want Gadgets, Circuit City Survey Says
As Father’s Day approaches, more than half of America’s dads want an electronics gift, with cell phones and GPS devices at the top of the list of most desired gadgets. That’s according to a survey commissioned by Circuit City, in association with Decision Analyst, Inc. and released this week.
The survey found that 52 of fathers would most like an electronics gift, easily outpacing those who want clothes, sports guy, or a vacation. In addition, when asked about what is needed for a family road trip, 93 percent of dads called a mobile phone “somewhat or very important,” while 75 percent said the same about a GPS device.
“There’s no doubt about it, enhanced electronics are now an essential part of the American automotive experience,” the company’s senior vice president and general merchandise manager for entertainment and mobile products, Irynne MacKay, said as part of the release of the survey. “Dads and moms count on electronics not only to help them find their way, but also to entertain the family on a trip.”
