A few of the top brass at DBL Distributing, Scottsdale, Ariz., huddled around a table at The Cafe in the Mandalay Bay Hotel on Saturday looking at mock-ups and fine tuning the design of the company’s new booth for next year’s CES. That’s not the only new initiative DBL has planned for the coming year.
David Lorsch, DBL’s president and CEO, said the company’s 30,000 dealer partners can expect faster, more efficient delivery through the its new logistics and delivery systems, which will continue to improve; Web-based training in conjunction with it main manufacturer partners; a broader product set; and the addition of an industry vet as the company’s chief merchandising officer. Lorsch shared that and other thoughts as he and other vendors and manufacturers met with partners before the onslaught of CES begins this week.
“Like they say, ‘You can’t make margin with a bowl full of volume,’” Lorsch said, referring to the need for the distributor and its dealer and manufacturer partners to continue adding value-added services to offset falling product margins.
